We offer Whitetail hunts for mature bucks during November, typically 2nd week of November through fourth week of November, when the Whitetail are highly active throughout the day. Buck are actively chasing does which makes them more likely to make a critical mistake and let their guard down. We time our hunts around the late-season rut timing.
Saskatchewan Whitetail bucks are famous for their massive bodies and trophy-class antlers. Mature bucks weigh from 250 to over 300 pounds live weight with antlers typically scoring between 140 and 160 inches. A true Saskatchewan Giant Whitetail can score up to 175 or better for antlers.
Saskatchewan is famous for trophy whitetails due to a number of important factors. The first northern Canada genetics. The second is the extreme cold winter conditions that breed heavy-bodied deer. The third is nutrient-rich agricultural forage and abundant forest cover. The fourth is limited hunting pressure which is regulated by the provincial environment department. Put all this together and the result is legendary world-record Whitetail.
We work with 2 Whitetail hunters per guide. Your guide will transport you and another hunter to an area where a four wheeler will then be used to get you to and from your hunting stands. Your guide will be available to you all day throughout the hunt.
We hunt with a maximum of 6 hunters per week in Whitetail camp, unless it is all one group, in which we can accommodate 8 hunters.
For the case of a Whitetail trophy down, or in case of emergency, you will be given a satellite communication device. This device will communicate with our entire guide team and will ensure both safety as well as a timely pickup.
The most common calibres are 300 and 7mm. Our Whitetail deer have large bodies so it is nice to have the knock down power.
We will cape your Whitetail trophy as well as prepare the skull for a problem-less, worry-free trip over the border. All capes and hides will be frozen and put in a complementary Rubbermaid tote for travel. If you want to take your meat, the processing is up to you but we will provide a facility for you to do so. Most people that fly leave their meat behind in which case, we ensure it goes to good use.
Whitetail hunts are sun up to sun down, so depending on which week you come, you can expect to spend 9-10 hours in the blind. Your guide will transport you to your hunting stand before legal shooting light and pick you up shortly afterwards.
We do offer buddy heaters and propane for your Whitetail stand. This is included in your trip. Some hunters prefer to go without the heaters if they have adequate clothing.
On our Whitetail stands, shots vary from 50 yards to the 110 yards. Being close allows you to accurately judge the deer and make a clean shot. All Bow hunters shots will be under 30 yards for Whitetail deer.
The temperature varies and can range from early morning to mid-afternoon temperatures by 20 degrees. In the November Whitetail hunt season, the low temperatures can be south of the -20 degrees Fahrenheit mark. It is very important to have warm footwear and clothing. We also offer Buddy heaters for your stand if requested.
Yes archery for Whitetail deer is an option. We require to know well in advance if you are going to bow hunt in order to insure we have the proper set up for you. We will set you up for an average shot of approximately 30 yards, tree stand to bait pile.
If an animal is wounded and not recovered an additional $1000.00 will be charged in order to continue hunting (same applies to rifle hunters).
