Black Bear Season 2025 Week III

Night one we had 2 bears shot. We were able to recover one and unfortunately for us a big chocolate colored boar was arrowed in the shoulder. The arrow only had 3″ of penetration so after a several hour track the blood ran out on us and the bear is believed to be patrolling the woods to this day. The other didn’t make it 50 yards from the bait. A death moan was heard and he was loaded on the hearse and hauled home.

Night 2 had Rebecca sitting on the stand. It was a bear filled night as Rebecca had multiple bears coming to the bait including a fat jet black bear which tempted her but got the pass. And then in the final minutes of the night a beautiful colored boar worked his way to the bait and Rebecca executed perfectly.

Tyler Also had multiple bears on the stand that night and right at the closing minutes his stand echoed with the death moan as he put the smack down on a beautiful black boar.

On day 5 we awoke to a government ban on ATV’s in the provincial forests. This changed our plans as to which stands we were going to hunt. Fortunately we had a couple hot stands to hunt on private land which was exempt from ATV bans.

Austin barely put a crease in his pants as shortly after he sat down he arrowed a beautiful red bear.

Paul who has passed a couple nice bears this week awaiting a big chocolate to show, was on a new stand and had a different chocolate bear come right underneath him to spook when it got to the barrel from the intense wind and smoke.

Night- 6, the same colored bear from the night before appeared at 8:30 pm and Paul put it down. Our week closed at 5 for 6 with 100% opportunity.

The fire held off at the 1.5 mile mark from camp as crews had bucketed with choppers and so far have kept it from jumping the recently installed bulldozer made fire guards.

Even without access to some of deep in the forest baits, we still have great hunting opportunities for next week with the private land bait stands showing promising activity on the trail cams on a regular basis and we expect to end the season strong.
